Ex Machina Italia continues its commitment in the vast world of education. This time in a truly ambitious and interesting project, in collaboration with CISITA Parma.
The Erasmus+ Project AIRECH – AI for REsilient Crafting Hub – aims to innovate the teaching of vocational education and training (VET) in European craft sectors of excellence through digital and inclusive means. Using conversational agents based on Generative Artificial Intelligence, the project supports the transmission of know-how between master craftsmen and younger generations, responding to the challenges of an evolving context and supporting the valorization of craft knowledge for the future.
The AIRECH project intends to innovate VET training by experimenting with teaching tools based on generative AI (and this is where we are involved) to preserve and transfer historical craft skills as common heritage and a reservoir of future professionalism. It aims to make these ancient craft trades at risk more attractive and sustainable, fostering synergy between the training system and businesses. The project intends to safeguard and transmit historical professional skills using Artificial Intelligence ethically. The AI agents developed in the project have multilevel potential: they serve as digital banks of knowledge and craft know-how and, at the same time, as interactive assistants in the processes of learning and teaching the craft in VET. The expected result is the release of the development and validation model of such AI agents, so that they can be replicated in other contexts as well, such as in companies for initial and continuous training.
